WELCOME TO THE HUMAN RACE THEATRE COMPANY!
Welcome to our 28th season of creating professional theatre here in Dayton. For the 2014-2015 Eichelberger Loft Season, we boldly continue our tradition of introducing you to contemporary pieces while exploring new takes on more established works with three delightful plays, two raise-the-roof musicals and a hilarious one-man hit. No tours here. No pre-packaged productions. We craft these shows just for you—our audiences. And I think you’re going to like what you see.
Introducing the Loft Season...
Laugh along with Miracle on South Division Street as the Nowak family is turned upside down when secrets and local lore clash, then have the time of your life keeping up with musical comedy’s favorite “Auntie” in our intimate take on Mame. Join us for the return of one of our favorite playwrights, Michael Slade, with the world premiere of his Family Shots, and—as our special Valentine to you—enjoy an add-on production of Buyer & Cellar, a tale of one man’s outrageous encounter with “the Greatest Star!” Witness a generation gap that only the Bard can bridge in the new Canadian drama Taking Shakespeare, and rejoice with song and stunning headwear as we end the season with Regina Taylor’s gospel celebration, Crowns.
If you haven’t done so already, I invite you become a Loft Season subscriber. You’ll save money, guarantee your seats before they go on sale to the public and show your support for The Human Race as you share in the unique experience that is live theatre. Pick any three, four or five shows, and add Buyer & Cellar for just $17, or go for the ultimate in flexibility with our Flex Pass subscriptions.
But wait, there’s more...
Be a part of musical theatre in the making August 1 and 2 with our annual Festival of New Musicals and share your thoughts as we workshop promising new musicals by some of today’s most talented writers. Advance tickets are only $15. Then meet us in March at the Victoria Theatre as we produce the brilliant Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike on Victoria Theatre Association’s Broadway Series.
And those of you who want to get out of the audience and into the action can explore the world of theatre at The Caryl D. Philips Creativity Center with our education classes and camps for children, teens and adults throughout the year, all taught by local professionals.
At The Human Race, you are part of the magic. Come join the show.
